Session 2: The Alphabet; Braille Writing Devices |
Session 2 presents a detailed discussion on the braille alphabet and the algorithm for its creation. A discussion of the various types of braille writing devices, including the use of computers, will also be offered. This session presents the first opportunity for the student to complete a lab activity in reading and writing braille.
Exercises for the Reader
- Carefully read all of the session readings.
- After completing both readings, complete two activities:
- read words written in braille. A text version of these braille words is provided for use with speech readers.
- using the word list, produce a brailled document of those words. Follow the instructions for submitting your document.
